About Us

Mount Sinai Kennel has been in existence since 1994. It is owned and operated by Paula Duvall, who is a homemaker to her 7 children, and wife to Wm. E. Duvall M.D. ( anesthesiologist). We currently have 3 of the children living at home. The oldest 4 now have their own lives , but they visit often and bring the grandchildren. Four of the Dogue de Bordeauxs live full time in our home. The others have a kennel facility attached to the house. It is spacious, heated and air-conditioned, and we are with them many times during the course of a day. We have 2 fenced yards for them, and another unfenced 2 acres for them to roam. We recently purchased 30 acres and have started building a new home and even nicer kennel facility. We hope to move into the new facilities in mid 2007.
We enjoy training our dogues at a local obedience school, and we enjoy showing our dogues across the USA, Canada, and once a year in Europe.
Our goal is to produce top quality Bordeauxs with good health and sound temperament. The Bordeaux genepool is small and there are several health issues. We wish we could say that all our breeding stock has passed every test, but they have not. But we do try to breed wisely and avoid doubling up on any known health problems.  For example, a dogue with non-passing hips is best bred to a dogue with passing hips.    All our dogues are health screened including OFA hips and elbows. Our local veterinarian provides their physicals, including heart auscultation. Bloodwork is drawn to check for any liver, kidney, thyroid, or hematologic problems. Any abnormal findings are always referred to a specialist for further evaluation.
Our puppies are also seen by the vet before leaving us at 8+ weeks of age. They are vaccinated, microchipped, and treated for parasites. Pups are hand raised and on their way to being good companions. We are firm beleivers in the puppy raising methods used by the "Monks of New Skete". You can find their books and videos at your local bookstore or on line.
Puppies are only available to good homes and are never to be trained for aggression. Anyone acquiring one of our pups must agree to maintain contact with us--including photos of the dogue. All pups come with a simple contract, and a one year guarantee against any serious/severe genetic problem.
